Guided Hiking Trail Experience

The Dhimurru Coastal Trail offers a truly immersive cultural and nature experience - where every step reveals ancient stories, pristine landscapes, and the deep connection between the Yolŋu people and their Country.

This small-group hike follows the Dhimurru Coastal Walking Trail between Garanhan (Macassan Beach) and Bariŋura (Little Bondi) — with routes curated based on tides, seasons, and Yolŋu cultural heritage. As you journey across white sand dunes, paperbark trees and monsoon vine, rocky headlands, and elevated escarpments, Yolŋu guides share their deep knowledge and connections to Country — stories of Yolŋu history and trade, land and sea, winds, native plants and wildlife of East Arnhem Land.

This is not just a guided hike. It's a way of learning — through language, observation and conversation. You'll leave with an understanding of Yolŋu culture, seasons and how Yolŋu have cared for country and flora and fauna for tens of thousands of years.

Walks are run in one direction with pre-arranged drop-off or pick-up, allowing guests to walk mindfully and at a gentle pace.

Morning Tour Option

• 8:00am – Depart Nhulunbuy (pickup or self-drive to start point)

• 8:30am – Begin coastal walk with cultural interpretation

• 10:30am – Walk concludes; guests return via arranged pickup

• 11:00am – Arrive back in Nhulunbuy

Afternoon Tour Option

• 3:30pm – Depart Nhulunbuy

• 4:00pm – Begin walk and storytelling session

• 6:00pm – End walk with light refreshments and return transfer

• 6:30pm – Arrive back in Nhulunbuy
